On November 27, Acting Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan and Head of the Government Office of the Republic of Bashkortostan Ilshat Tazhitdinov held a meeting on the trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation with foreign countries. The event which was organized by the State Committee of the Republic of Bashkortostan on foreign economic relations, was attended by the representatives of the regional executive authorities such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Ufa, Office of the Federal Security Service of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Committee for UNESCO, Development Corporation and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
The interdepartmental working group discussed the results of the foreign economic activity of the Republic of Bashkortostan for the 9 months of 2018 and plans for 2019.
The chairman of the State Committee for Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Ruslan Mirsayapov, reported that from January to September 2018, foreign trade turnover amounted to $4.15 billion, which is 14% higher compared to the same period in 2017. Exports amounted to 3.4 billion US dollars – an increase of 8.4%. The share of non-commodity non-energy goods in total exports amounted to 45% or $1.51 billion, which is 19% higher compared to the same period last year. The volume of imports amounted to about 750 million US dollars which constitute an increase of 47.6%.
Official delegations of Bashkortostan to foreign countries, including the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, France, Japan, China, Iran, and Kuwait have been organized. In turn, the official foreign delegations from Norway, USA, Austria, Vietnam, Denmark, Czech Republic, etc visited the region.
In 2019, the republic will host a number of major international events, including the 53rd International Children's Games, the 5th Forum of Small Business of the SCO and BRICS Regions. A lot of foreign delegations are invited for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Bashkortostan.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the coordination of international and foreign economic relations of the republic, the results of the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Bashkortostan to France, and the presentation at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Paris. In addition, the results of the International Export Forum “Time to export” were discussed.
